Is email marketing still effective?

Yes, is the short answer
Marketing Sherpa carried out a survey of 1,400 marketers asking them to respond regarding email effectiveness with one of five answers:
- Increasing a lot
- Increasing a little
- Not changing noticeably
- Decreasing a little
- Decreasing a lot
The result was that more than three times the number of marketers said the effectiveness was increasing compared to those saying it was decreasing.
This is good news for bloggers and internet marketers wishing to build an email list and build a relationship with their subscribers that leads to increased awareness of their products and services and ultimately a sale.

Everyone’s heard of email, so get marketing
Have you heard of RSS? Have you heard of email?
You may have visited websites and seen an orange RSS sign like the one in the top right hand corner of this webpage —->
But what is it?
Well that was the question posed by Hubspot recently and they discovered that twelve times as many people subscribe by email as they do to an RSS reader.
This is mainly because unless you have been marketing online for any length of time you’ve probably never heard of an RSS reader.
It is simply a different system to subscribe to content on blogs and is sent automatically to your reader service, for example Google Reader.
In my experience I have lots of RSS subscriptions but I rarely go and read them. Why? Well because compared to email subscription where I get to see the latest goings on everytime I check my emails, I have to actually login to my reader and I just forget to do that.
So, do you see why you should choose email marketing over everything else?
A very simple way to market by email if you have a blog is to set up your autoresponder so that it sends out once a week a summary of your blog posts to your subscribers. That way they can keep up to date with what you’ve been blogging about and following the links in your email they can visit your blog and read the articles that catch their eye.
It couldn’t be simpler and is a real setup once and forget system and is extrememly handy if you don’t have the time, yet, to write a regular email to your subscribers.
Remember the survey showed that most people still prefer email communication.
